Israeli Dancing Tonight, Register Now for Beginning Dance Classes, You Can Learn a Lot Line Dancing

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dancers,

We are dancing tonight on Labor Day, Monday, September 1. Come out to B'nai Israel at 7 pm for Israeli Dancing, $5.

Next Sunday, September 7, is the monthly Contra dance at the Boltin Center.

New Series of Line Dancing ot the Senior Center

Sign up now for Line Dancing at the Senior Center. A new series starts this Thursday, September 4, at noon.

New Dance Classes

New dance classes start in September. Register now via Santa Fe College Community Education. Find the line dancing at the senior center under Seniors. All other programs you can find under Dance.

  1. Beginning Israeli on Mondays at 7 pm, 4 weeks
  2. Beginning and Intermediate Line Dancing in Hawthorne on Tuesdays at 6 pm, 4 weeks
  3. Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Line Dancing at the Senior Center on Thursdays at noon, 4 weeks
  4. Beginning Argentine Tango on Thursdays at 6 pm, 6 weeks
  5. Beginning West Coast Swing on Thursdays at 7:10 pm, 6 weeks

You Can Learn a Lot Line Dancing

At River City Swing this weekend, they honorerd Mark Traynor with their first Trailblazer award, for his contribution to building the West Coast Swing community in Florida. Mark started Floor Play in Orlando more than 25 years ago and other chapters have followed in a number cities.

Mark taught a workshop titled Eurythmics for West Coast Swing, which was about footwork. He said, "the swing dancers look down on line dancing, because it is not partner dancing, but you can learn a lot from line dancing."

And from Israeli dancing too. You have heard me say that for a long time.
