Starting Fresh, Contra Dance this Afternoon, Israeli Dancing on Monday, No Line Dancing Thursday, International Thursdays

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dancers,

Today Sunday is the monthly afternoon Contra Dance at 4 pm with Waltzing at 2:45 at the Boltin Center, followed by an after party, $15 because part of the Contra Weekend.

Israeli Dancing tomorrow Monday at 7:30 at B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd, $5 per family.

There is no Line Dancing at the Senior Center this Thursday due to the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. We dance again the following Thursday Octobor 12 week 3 of 4.

International Folk Dancing is now on Thursday nights at Rosa B from 7 to 10 pm, $5.

Starting Fresh

The morning of Erev Yom Kippur, a woman had written to Dear Abby that although her husband had forgiven her, she could not forgive herself for an infidelity from 12 years before. I thought she needs Yom Kippur. On Yom Kippur we wear white to symbolize purification. This year we read a hasidic tale, that went like this, in abbreviated form.

At the moment of community atonement, when we are forgiven for our mistakes and start the new year purified, four holies come together:

Place - the Holy of Holies in the Temple in Jerusalem
Person - the High Priest
Time - on Yom Kippur, the Shabbat of Shabbats
Word - the 4-letter name of God

You can bring the four holies together yourself.

Place - wherever you are lift your eyes to the heavens
Person - you are your own High Priest
Time - whenever you are ready to be forgiven for your mistakes and to start again pure
Word - with whatever words come to you
