Dancing with Andy

We are dancing on Tuesday, March 29. I will be out of town for two weeks. We will start again with beginners on Tuesday, April 19 and experienced dancers on Thursday, April 21. Let me know you are coming. Email me to get on our private email list for the latest schedule sent the day before. Invite others.

Private lessons are available. $40 for one hour for a couple. $30 for 45 minutes for one person.

All dancing at Congregation B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 23 Blvd, around the left side, 1/2 mile east of Fresh Market.

These are classes with a lot of practice time. There is about 15 minutes of instruction spread over each hour. The rest of the time you dance. You get in about 10 dances of practice each hour. We rotate partners. Rotating is not required. Dancing is for all levels. No partner needed.

Let me know what dances you would like to do. Suggestions include: waltz, foxtrot, East Coast swing, chacha, rumba, hustle, and nightclub two-step, and West Coast swing. If you want to spend some time on one dance, let me know that you want to do a series. Spending a few months on one dance takes you to a new level.

Complexity kills ~ Ray Ozzie, Microsoft developer

For Better or Worse

I was in an advanced class. There were only men, no women except the teacher. All the women had dropped out at the intermediate level. The women said they only need to follow, so they did not need to go to class anymore. When you went out dancing, the women could not do the advanced stuff. The women did not know it. The women thought they were following everything, but the men were compensating for what the women could not do.

To get better, you have to change what you are doing. You need instruction for that, whatever your level.

If you do not change what you are doing, you likely will get worse, not better. There are some things you already do well, which you may continue to do well. There are other things which you cannot do or do poorly. For the things you cannot do, you still will not be able to do them. For the things you do poorly, you will get better at doing them poorly. You will train yourself into bad habits that will be hard to break.

You must dance to get better. There is no substitute for dance time. Keep going to class so when you dance, you get better, not worse.

Biodanza

Welcome to the first weekend of Biodanza - Dance Freedom - in Gainesville

Soul Dance - Biodanza

Biodanza is about connection to life through movement - music- emotion. You are born with a dance, it accompanies you through your life. Biodanza helps you reconnect with your own, unique movement.

Biodanza is Art through movement and music. The facilitator takes you on a sequence of music that bypasses your thinking brain straight into your cells, and rekindles with the dance you were born with. Your emotions are awaiting to be danced, Biodanza guides you through five integrated forces within you. The body follows, no words are uttered, you follow the music.

Biodanza is community based, everyone contributes with their soul dance.

We invite you to share this wonderful unique experience.
