Argentine Tango, Contra Weekend, Swing Theory at One Love, Outdoor Party Downtown

Still no dancing with Andy because I am out of town. We will resume on Tuesday, March 28 with the Beginner Swing With Andy Make Up Class followed by a 4-week Beginner Series On Tuesdays in April. On Thursday, March 30, we will resume Hustle!, West Coast Swing, and Argentine Tango. We will continue these dances for a while until we get good at them.

On Saturday March 18 come out for Contra Dance with John Rogers with Jenny and the Stray Dogs at the Dancing Fish in Melrose from 6 to 9 pm at Dancing Fish, 24800 State Road 26, Melrose. Vaccination required.

On Saturday March 18 come out for Swing Theory at One Love Cafe from 6 to 9 pm at One Love Cafe, 4989 NW 40 Place, Gainesville, 32606.

On Sunday March 19 come out for Family and Friends Outdoor Dance Party Downtown with Wanda Lloyd from 3 to 6 pm at Bo Diddley Plaza, 111 E University Avenue, Gainesville, 32601. Wanda Lloyd, 904-537-7763, Free.

Mondays and Wednesdays take Baila Caliente Salsa Dance Lessons at Gainesville’s 5 Star Comedy & Jazz Event Center, 534 N. Main Street at 6 pm. Baila Caliente is in Ocala on Wednesdays.

Mondays and Wednesdays take Lindy Hop Swing Dancing Lessons at the Reitz Union at 7:30 pm.

Tuesdays and Thursdays join Club Ballroom with K Smooth at Rosa B Williams Center at 7 pm.

Wednesdays join the UF Argentine Tango Class with Trista and Alper at the Reitz Union at 5:15 pm.

Dancing with Andy

You learn to dance as light as a feather. These are the gentlest and safest dance sessions. You learn to lead and follow using your body. There is no use of force, meaning no pushing and pulling, no tension and pressure. You learn the language of dancing with a partner so you can communicate unambiguously. You learn the simple rules and signals to communicate every step in every dance in the same way with every person.

Let me know if you are coming. Not required. You can drop in. Invite others.

At the moment, these are small groups where you get personal attention. Take advantage of this time to get better. Group sizes vary.

All dancing at Congregation B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 23 Blvd, around the left side, 1/2 mile east of Fresh Market.

No dancing on Thursdays, April 6 and 13 due to Passover.

If you are inclined to dance on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, pay for two nights and the third night the same week is free.
