Why More Men Do Not Dance, River City Swing Ride, Lots of Fun this Weekend, West Coast Friday, Contra and Tango Saturday, Waltz Sunday

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

There was a long running discussion on a LinkedIn Ballroom Dance Group about why more men do not dance, since there usually seems to be more women at dances. If you like, send me your thoughts.

This Weekend

Tonight, Friday, Josh is holding a Country Westie dance with a mix of Country Western and West Coast Swing. Doors open at 7:30, lesson at 7:45, dancing at 8:15 until 10:45. $10, $5 students

Saturday night is an Argentine Tango Milonga with David and Thuy. Contact david.chayes@gmail.com.

Also Saturday is a Contra Dance at the Boltin Center. These are easy enough for everyone to do and Gainesville's biggest monthly dance party, with a live band, friendly people and a lot of fun. Come on out. Lesson at 7:30, dancing at 8. $8

Andy's Dance Sessions

Israeli Dancing Mondays at B'nai Israel at 7 pm and Line Dancing at the Senior Center on Thursdays at noon.

Register now for these four beginner classes starting in September via Santa Fe College Community Education under Dance. Even if you have taken one of these before, you can take them again to reinforce what they have learned. We cover the material in different ways each time. Experienced dancers are welcome to attend Tango and West Coast Swing for free to assist. The sessions are:

1. Beginning Israeli on Mondays at 7 pm, 4 weeks
2. Beginning Line Dancing on Tuesdays in Hawthorne at 6 pm, 4 weeks
3. Beginning Argentine Tango on Thursdays at 6 pm, 6 weeks
4. Beginning West Coast Swing on Thursdays at 7:10 pm, 6 weeks
