Learn to Dance in 20 Hours, Lots of Fun Coming Up, Social in Ocala, Tango Milonga, Swingtastics

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Lots of Fun Coming Up

At the end of October, we are holding Salsa and Hustle classes. Both of these will be a 4 week series on Thursday nights starting October 30, Salsa at 6 pm, followed by Hustle at 7:10 pm. It has been a long time since we have done these dances. Hustle and Salsa are among the most exhilirating of dances. Come on out for a lot of fun.

Hustle is the perfect companion dance for West Coast Swing. They share the same tempo of music. Any music around 105 beats per minute, without the swing rhythm, is often better for Hustle than WCS. You have a lot of opportunity to dance Hustle at West Coast Swing dances.

Salsa is like Hustle to Latin music. This is a great chance for you to learn the basics of Salsa.

Add some variety to your dancing. Sign up now via Santa Fe College Community Education (SFC). Call Jennifer 352-395-5193 or visit www.sfcollege.edu/cied/communityed

Dancing this Weekend

You can dance in Ocala on Friday night from 7 to 10 pm at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion.

Friday night UF has their regular swing class and social, with a free lesson at 8 pm at the UTC.

Saturday night Steve and Sarah hold an Argentine Tango Milonga with a 30-minute lesson by Sarah at 8 pm.

Ray and Eileen have a Ballroom Dance on Saturday night at By Ear Musician.

Sunday evening Nick and the Swingtastics return to Loosey's, your chance to do some real swing dancing, from 7 to 10 pm. $7

Learn Anything in 20 Hours

This guy says you can lean anything in 20 hours. He says, if you put in the time, you can get somewhat competent at anything in one month. I have been telling beginners, if they go once a week to dance class, it takes about a year or two to feel comfortable. Figuring that people miss classes and that in a one hour class people may only get in 30 minutes of practice, 20 hours is about the same order of magnitude.
