The Amazing Brain, West Coast Swing Dance Tonight, Contra Saturday, Waltz and Swing and Sway Sunday, Israeli Monday

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Not much dancing left the next two weeks, but Israeli Dancing is still every Monday night. Join us on Monday nights at 7 pm for circle dances and 8 pm for Israeli partner dances, at B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd. Just $5

Tonight, is Josh's 3rd Friday Country Westie Dance Social with a lesson at 7:45 and dancing until 10:15. $10

The monthly Saturday night Contra dance is this weekend, with waltzing at 5:30, a contra lesson at 6:30 and contra dancing at 7. Come out for the last contra dance of the year. $8

Sunday is the Vintage Waltz Brunch at the Movement from 10:30 to 1:30. If you do not know how to waltz, people there will be happy to show you how. Think waltz means walking. If you can walk, you can waltz.

Also Sunday is Swing and Sway's Afternoon Holiday Dance at the Senior Center, open to all ages.

I was showing someone a little decoration in Hustle and she said she was not ready for it yet. I told her it was only an introduction to start the process and she gave it a try. After some practice she was doing it and I smiled. She asked me why I was smiling and I said, "It is amazing how the brain works. We confront these things that we cannot do, that intimidate us, that we feel we will never get. It is the same for dancing, playing an instrument, learning a language or writing computer software. If we can put up with the pain, eventually we will learn." I put on some Hustle music and she forgot everything we practiced. It is amazing how the brain works.
