New Year's Eve Dances, Footwork, Planning by the Decade, West Coast Swing, Contra, Argentine Tango Dances

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

If you are looking for something to do tonight on New Year's Eve, you are in luck, with a full evening. First come out to the Global Peace Dance with Diana Kanoy, from 7:30 to 10 pm. This is a participatory, spiritual event of singing and circle dancing for men and women of all faiths. United Church of Gainesvulle, 1624 NW 5th Avenue, $10 donation.

After the Global Peach Dance, head over to By Ear Musician for Ray and Eileen's New Year's Eve Ballroom Dance Party, which goes from 9 pm to 12:15 am. Only $12.

Thursday and Friday you have off, to get ready for a busy weekend, starting with Josh's monthly Saturday night West Coast Swing Dance, which is a pajama party. Lesson from 7:30 to 8:00 with Paul Fairbanks. At the Movement. $15

The monthly Sunday afternoon Contra Dance is at 4 pm, and immediately afterwards on Sunday evening at 7 pm is Argentine Tango Milonga Papirusa. Next month, February, Milonga Papirusa moves to the first Friday.

You can come watch these dances for free.

Monday, join me for Israeli Dancing at 7 pm, with Israeli Partner Dances at 8 pm. B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd. Just $5

This last Monday, all my regulars were out of town and suggested we cancel, but I wanted to be able to say I showed up every week, so we had Israeli Dancing anyway. I was determined to dance by myself. We ended up with five of us and danced for three hours, both Israeli and swing, which was a nice, pre-birthday surprise.

Speaking of Israeli Dancing, line, circle and folk dancing can help your social dancing. They are the best for your footwork. Check out this video.

When I was a young, I planned in hours. As I grew up, I planned in days. By the time I finished college, I was planning by the quarter. After working for several years, I was planning by the year. Now I am planning by the decade. As this year passes by so swiftly, I can see I have the time frames backwards. With time running out, every hour counts.

Have a Happy, Healthy and Meaningful New Year,
Happy Dancing,
Andy
