Walk, Walk or Triple Step, Argentine Tango Milonga, Ballroom Dance Party, Contra Dance

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Our small group Swing session continues on Monday nights at 6 pm. Contact me if you would like to join us. In June, we are concentrating on rhythm turns. In particular, we are learning how to communicate the difference between walk, walk and a triple step. What does that have to do with rhythm turns?

6-count Swing basic steps are walk, walk, triple step, triple step. 8-count Swing rhythm turn basic steps are walk, walk, triple step, walk walk, triple step. As you can see, to communicate one or the other, after the first walk, walk, triple step, you need to be able to communicate when to do a walk, walk and when to do a triple step. When you truly are able to communicate the difference between walk, walk and triple step, you can use that anywhere in your dancing to improvise however you like.

Tonight is the monthly Friday Contra Dance in Melrose.

Saturday night Argentine Tango Milonga El Abrazo meets at the Movement with a lesson at 8 pm and dancing 8:30 to midnght.

Also Saturday night is a Ballroom Dance at the Movement.
