Tango Festival, Swing Dance, Ballroom Dance

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Last week in our Swing Dancing class we went back to some basics and drilled a bit to give everyone a chance to work on their timing. When your basics are good, everything is easier. Afterwards some joined us for Israeli Dancing, in which we learned a number of fun partner dances. This week, we will continue to reinforce the fundamentals and spend our last week on the ladies one-and-a-half-turn. Next month's theme will be tuck turns. There are 5 weeks in August, so the price will be $60 for the 5 weeks (one week free), otherwise $15 per night. Contact me if you would like to join us.

Kind of a quiet week ahead. Saturday night is Argentine Tango Milonga Papirusa at a new location, the Unified Training Center, 809 W University Avenue, front room, on a new night, fourth Saturday instead of first Friday. Starts at 8 pm, $10. Also Saturday night is the Ray and Eileen's Ballroom Dance at By Ear Musician at 8 pm. Sunday night, you can Swing Dance with Hot Rod Lincoln at Napolatanos from 5:30 to 9:30 pm, 606 NW 76 Street.

During the week, the West Coast Swing dancers are off, so no dancing Wednesday night, but next Saturday, is a Demery Leyva West Coast Swing Workshop and Dance at the Movement.

September 4 to 6 is Papirusa Argentine Tango Festival with Daniela and Luis. Early bird sign up is August 3. For details www.andreahoapham.com/?page_id=296

  2. Line Dancing on Thursdays at noon at the Senior Center, sign up via SFC, ongoing. None currently running during the summer. Next series probably will start in the fall of 2015
  3. Semi-private Swing on Mondays at 6 pm, at B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd, $15 per person, includes Israeli Dancing and 8:30 pm session if there is one, let me know you are coming
