Blues Workshop, Argentine Tango, Contra, Swing, Ballroom

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

You can keep busy this weekend with two dances every day Friday through Sunday.

Friday night join UF Swing Club at the UTC at 8 pm for free. Or, head to Melrose for a Contra dance.

Saturday stop by the Movement for an Argentine Tango Milonga El Abrazo from 8 to midnight, $10, free to watch. Or, head to By Ear Musician for a Ballroom dance.

Sunday afternoon take a Blues Workshop at 3 pm at Persona Vintage Clothing, 201 SE 2 Place, $10. Or, head to Ocala for West Coast Swing at 5:30 pm at PM Respiratory, 3306 SW 26 Ave.

This Monday is week 6 of 6 for our musicality series for West Coast Swing. Contact me to join us. We have some new beginners starting and we will be meeting a half hour early at 5:30 to start catching them up. Cost is $15 per person.

Thursday is week 4 of 4 for our Salsa and Hustle series, which has been a lot of fun. Afterwards we will have a little get together somewhere to celebrate. The following Thursday is Thanksgiving. Starting in December, we may continue Salsa and Hustle on Thursday nights. Let me know if you would like to join us for these dances.

Ballroom Dancing in Ocala is on Tuesday nights at 6 pm with Brittany Coy at the American Legion Hall, 5982 SE 58 Street, Baseline Road.

When I started Israeli dancing, it took me a couple of years before I felt comfortable doing the dances. After that, I felt like I could do all the things I needed to do. I did not give much thought to what I was doing, but I assumed I was getting better. After several years, a friend of mine asked, "Why does Andy dance like a robot?" When I saw myself on some videos, it was painful to watch. I had not been getting better at dancing. I had been getting better at my bad habits. I spent the next several years trying to fix the bad habits I had spent so long perfecting. Try to avoid the same fate.
