Unusual Dancing, HealthStreet Night, Birthday Dance, Contra, Waltz

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

There are some unusual dance opportunities this weekend. Saturday night UF HealthStreet Hosts a Night of Dance from 5 to 8 pm downtown at Bo Diddley Plaza. A number of local dance groups are participating. This is free.

Also Saturday night there is the monthly evening Contra Dance at the Boltin Center from 7 to 10 pm. $10

Sunday at 10:30 am is the Vintage Waltz Brunch at Rena's Ballroom, $10. From 2 to 4:30 pm also at Rena's Ballroom Swing and Sway joins Julie's 60th Birthday Party for an afternoon of dancing, $5.

There are a number of dance classes starting in September being offered via Santa Fe College Community Education. You can sign up now. To see the classes that are available and to sign up visit www.sfcollege.edu/cied/communityed

Dancing with Andy

This Monday August 22 we are dancing Hustle and Lindy from 5:30 to 7:15 pm at Congregation B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd. $15. We will then take a three week break.

Starting Thursday evening September 15, for those of you that want to start at the very beginning and learn progressively with other newcomers, you will have two different 6-week series to choose from: Introduction to Argentine Tango and Beginning Swing Dancing. These are offered via Santa Fe College Community Education and you can sign up now, call 352-395-5193 or visit www.sfcollege.edu/cied/communityed

You can also take Line Dancing at the Senior Center via SFC Community Ed. This is listed under the Seniors section, not the Dance section.

Alternatively, you can join our ongoing dance sessions. In this case, you sign up directly through me. These sessions are:

  1. Argentine Tango and West Coast Swing - Thursdays 6 to 8 pm, 6 weeks, $75 (1 week free) for either or both
  2. Hustle and Lindy - Mondays 5:30 to 7:15 pm, 3 weeks, $40 ($5 discount), September 19, September 26 and October 10
  3. Or all 9 sessions on Mondays and Thursdays, from September 15 to October 20, $90 (3 weeks free)
  4. Or $15 per night
