Cool Hip Hop for Adults, Ballroom Saturday, Swing at Depot Park

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Two good dance opportunities this weekend. Friday night join Josh at Depot Park for West Coast Swing from 8 to 10 pm. This is a free event.

Saturday night join Ray and Eileen for a Ballroom Dance at Rena's Ballrrom from 8 to 10:30 pm. $10

Wednesday join this new class Hip Hop for Adults with Professional Herbert Dingle. Add some new style to your dancing. At Pofahl Studio, 1325 NW 2 Street from 7 to 8 pm. This is an ongoing class. No prior experience in Hip-Hop is needed. Starts from the beginning, covering all of the basics. The music is great and the class is fun. Mr. Dingle is an experiences dancer, instructor and choreographer. A graduate of Keiser University and Dreyfoos School of the Arts, he received further training from Julliard, Alvin Ailey, Tennessee Ballet and Howard University. Background includes TV commercials, halftime performances for NBA, commercial shots for Vogue, performances at the Kravis Center, Gusman Center, Tennessee Performing and Miami Arena among others. Dance forms taught include ballet, pointe, pas de deux, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary West African, Graham, Limon, Horton and Musical Theatre. Mr. Dingle will teach beginning through advanced and adult hip-hop as well as intermediate tap and jazz.

Also Wednesday the UF Argentine Tango Club has their kick off event.

Big Band Banquet Benefit for Wounded Warriors and First Responders on Saturday September 17. The organization 10 CAN helps wounded warriors and first responders. The banquet is catered by Celebrations Catering, aka Café C, awesome food. Music provided by The Gainesville Big Band, which is swing music you can dance to. Seats are limited. Starting Thursday evening September 15, I will be running these sessions via SFC:

  3. Line Dancing at the Senior Center - listed under Seniors

Other Dancing with Andy

We are on break and there is no dancing on Mondays or Thursdays until Thursday September 15 and Monday September 19.

  1. Argentine Tango and West Coast Swing - Thursdays 6 to 8 pm, 6 weeks, $75 (1 week free) for the evening
  2. Hustle and Lindy - Mondays 5:30 to 7:15 pm, 3 weeks, $40 ($5 discount), September 19, September 26 and October 10
  3. Or all 9 sessions on Mondays and Thursdays, from September 15 to October 20, $90 (3 weeks free)
  4. Or $15 per night

Note that the Thursday sessions are run at the same time with the SFC Community Ed sessions. You will have an opportunity to review the basics, pick up things you missed and learn new variations.
