Beginners Tango Milonga, Ballroom Dance, Nothing New, Sophia Loren, Country Waltz Lesson

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

This week on Thursday night at 7 pm we are doing Country Waltz in our Introduction to Social Dancing series with Andy. This is the kind of waltz they do at Contra dances and at the Vintage Waltz Brunch.

At 6 pm on Thursday is week 3 of 5 for Beginning Argentine Tango.

Monday night we are doing Hustle and Swing with Andy from 5:30 to 7:15 pm. These are fun, upbeat dances.

Let me know if you would like to attend any of these, if you have not signed up for the series. All are at B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd. Cost $15 per night, includes both dances. Ask about the discount if you want to take all the remaining classes in the series.

Weekend Dancing

This Saturday night is Argentine Tango Milonga El Abrazo which includes a Beginners Milonga with Steve from 8 to 9 pm at the Movement, 1212 N Main. The beginners milonga is a lesson with dancing in rotation, though you do not have to rotate. This is good for new dancers, because you will learn something and get in an hour of dancing, without having to ask anyone to dance or wait for someone to ask you. Experienced dancers welcome. $10, free to watch

Also Saturday is a Ballroom Dance with Ray and Eileen at 8 pm at Rena's Ballroom. They will do a few Slow Waltzes like we learned on Thursday, as well as probably one or two Merengues, which we learned last week. They will play at least a couple Hustles, East and West Coast Swing, Salsa and Rumba. If you have been coming on Mondays and Thursdays, you can do all those dances and should be able to dance more than half the night.

Nothing New

When I got back from tango class, Piyasa asked me what were the new things Andrea taught.

I told her, "Andrea does not teach anything new. She taught the same thing she taught ten years ago."
