Several Dances this Weekend, SFC Community Ed, Qigong

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Lots to do this weekend.

Friday is Rena's St. Patrick Day Dance Party with Gosia and Ali at 7:30 pm. Later that night is the Salsa Mundial Monthly Social White Party at 10 pm at the Movement.

Saturday afternoon is the Harn Museum of Dance performance art exhibition from 1 to 4 pm for free. Saturday night is the yearly Dance Alive Champagne Gala with Dancing with the Stars trained by Ray and Eileen Parris. The monthly evening Contra Dance at the Boltin Center is at 7 pm with Waltzing at 5:45. The Monthly Milonga at Thuy's is at 8:30 pm, contact david.chayes@gmail.com to attend.

Sunday is the monthly Vintage Waltz Bruch at Rena's at 10:30. In the afternoon is Rena's Monthly Sunday Best Dance at 2:30 pm.

Dancing with Andy

You can still join us for the next 2 weeks on our Social Dance series on Monday and Thursday. Learn enough basics of Foxtrot, Rumba and Waltz to do them at the dance socials. We are also continuing Hustle on Monday and Argentine Tango on Thursday.

Cost per person
- $45 for all 4 nights, or
- $25 for 2 Mondays or 2 Thursdays, or
- $15 per night drop-in

In April, we will start a six week series with Swing twice a week and Salsa on Thursdays.

Cost per person

Hello Everyone,
Let’s enjoy the springtime with refreshing and relaxing qigong practice in the ever-changing outdoors. (Yes, there is now enough daylight – barely – to start class at 7:15 am.) I hope to see you at one or both classes starting next week. Please spread the word. These classes are suitable for women and men of all ages, for those new to this type of exercise as well as for practitioners and teachers of yoga or other types of qigong, including taiji. If you cannot make it next week, it is OK to join us at any time during the 8 weeks.

Qigong in the Park
Spring 2017 classes

Qigong (pronounced “chee gung”) is China’s rich tradition of self-healing using movement, breath and awareness. You will practice and learn safe, enjoyable, relaxing exercises, including selections from the beautiful Wild Goose style of Qigong.

With regular practice you will:

Develop flexibility, coordination and agility.
Improve balance.
Handle stress more easily.
Reduce health care expenses.
Gain a stronger body, a sharper mind and a happier mood.

Morning class: Tuesdays 7:15-8:30 AM*. March 21-May 9.
Late afternoon/evening class: Wednesdays 6:15-7:30 PM*. March 22-May 10.

Cost:
$10 per class.
$40 for five classes.
$55 for eight classes.
One third of all proceeds will be donated to Welcoming Gainesville. www.welcominggainesville.org

Venue: Westside Park. We will meet in the open area between the community center building and the squash courts. (The squash courts are just east of the tennis courts. The tennis courts are between the squash courts and NW 34th St.)

* Once the classes are underway, that is by early-mid April, we may consider adjusting class times. Earlier sunrise may allow for an earlier start time for the morning class. Later sunset and very warm late afternoon temperatures may favor a later start time for the evening classes. An earlier morning class or a later evening class may also coincide with less traffic on 34th St. and thus easier commutes for those who drive to class.
