Be in the Present, Tango Practica on Thursdays, Gosia and Aly at Rena's, Blues Night, Contra

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Dancing is one of the few times we get to be in the present. At line dancing, I saw Liz get lost in a dance she knew. She looked at me. I said to her, "You let your mind wander to some place else." She nodded yes.

Leave your phone in your car so you will not be tempted to check your phone. Going dancing is a lot like going to the movies. You can be engrossed in the movie or you can be engrossed in your phone, not both. When you go out dancing, take advantage of this opportunity to be present.

My tango teacher is going out of town. Since we have no where to dance during the week, I am starting an Argentine Tango Practica. Everyone is invited, on Thursday nights from 8 to 10 pm, at Congregation B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd, around the left side. The cost is only $5. Student age folks are invited for free. The practica follows my first two regular classes on Thursday nights. During the first hour of the practica, I will be teaching a tango class. You can join the class or practice, whichever you want.

Tonight Friday Gosia and Aly are at Rena's Ballroom at 8 pm, $12. There is also a Contra Dance in Melrose.

Saturday night is the monthly Evening Contra Dance at the Boltin Center, the monthly Argentine Tango Milonga at Thuy's (contact david.chayes@gmail.com) and Blues Night at 6th Street North.

Cost per person
- $90 for all 9 nights (save $45), or
- $40 for 3 Mondays (save $5), or
- $75 for 6 Thursdays (save $15), or
- $60 for 6 Thursdays if with Josh and Judy (save $30), or
- $15 per night drop-in, or
- $5 per night student age, or
- $5 for Tango Practica only, free for student age
