Hugs, How to Get Good, New Series for Beginners, Bachata, Sunday Contra Dance

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

How do you get good at dancing? What is the secret? There is no secret. Dance more. That is the secret.

Going to one dance class a week for one hour is not enough. You will take forever to learn to dance. To make progress, you need to go at least twice a week, preferably for two hours each time. Or, you can practice at home. When you put in the time, you will soon find yourself at another level.

Friday night the UF Swing Club is dancing in the Reitz Union at 8:30 pm, free. Saturday Baila Caliente Social is at Studio C, 1925 NW 2 Street at 10 pm, $6. Sunday the UF Tango Club is dancing in the Reitz Union at 6:15 pm, free.

Sunday is the monthly afternoon Contra Dance at the Boltin Center at 4 pm with Waltzing at 2:45.

On Thursdays in June, Ray and Eillen are teaching Bachata at Rena's Ballroom.

Dancing with Andy

We are starting a new 6 week series this coming week. On Mondays we will be doing Hustle and West Coast Swing.

On Thursdays we have a new beginner series starting in West Coast Swing, Salsa and Argentine Tango. We have about 15 new people signed up so far. Experienced dancers welcome. These sessions are mostly dancing, with lots of time to practice. So whatever your level, you can get in a lot of dancing.

This Thursday June 8 at 8 pm, we will have Argentine Tango Practice. Only $5.

7 pm Salsa
8 to 9 pm Argentine Tango Class

Cost per person
- $120 for all 12 nights (save $60), or
- $75 for 6 Mondays or Thursdays (save $15), or
- $15 per night drop-in, or
- $5 per night student age, or
- $5 for Tango Practica, free for student age, or
- $5 for Israeli Dancing, free for student age
