Do Not Ask List, Women Wanted, West Coast Wednesday, Tango and Ballroom Saturday

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

West Coast Wednesdays with Josh and Judy starts today, one week later than usual, and goes through the fifth Wednesday of August at Rena's Ballroom.

Ladies Wanted for West Coast Swing with Andy this Thursday August 9 at 7 pm. We had a nice group last week, with three extra leaders. I danced the followers part. I know the guys would prefer dancing with a lady than me. Salsa at 8 pm and Argentine Tango at 9 pm. For all levels, no partner needed. At Congregation B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd, around the left side. $10 for the evening, $5 students

Friday is the monthly Contra Dance in Melrose.

Saturday is a Ballroom Dance with Ray and Eileen from 7:30 to 10:30 pm at Rena's Ballroom. $15 per person, $25 per couple

Saturday night is the return of Argentine Tango Milonga El Abrazo with Steve Littler, who has been out of town the last two months. We have missed this dance. At Rosa B Williams Recreation Center from 8 to 11 pm. $10, $5 student

As usual, ongoing on Sundays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm is the weekly Ocala West Coast Swing with Carol and Paul at PM Respiratory, 3306 SW 26 Avenue, in Ocala obviously. $10

Do Not Ask to Dance List

At dancing, when a lady tells me what to do, she gets put on my Do Not Ask to Dance List. I am not saying she should be there, but that is what I do.

My policy is I am happy to dance with anyone who is happy to dance with me. I do not care how much she knows. As long as she does not complain, in word or spirit, I have fun.

When I go to a dance, I try to ask all the ladies there to dance once, before I ask anyone to dance a second time.

However, I generally do not ask the ladies on my Do Not Ask to Dance List. I am still happy to dance with them, but I wait for them to ask me. They do not have to actually say the words. If they come over to talk with me and hang around waiting for a dance, then I ask them to dance.

In everything, I have always been the worst about telling other people what to do. And here I go again. Nevertheless, I am telling you, if you are not the teacher, do not tell other people what to do. If you do tell other people what to do, you owe them a dance, with you doing the asking.
