Variety Dances for Unicef, Gator Salsa Club Social, Advanced Contra, Lindy Games

Hello and Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Heads up, mark your calendars for the special event Israeli and International Folk Dancing with World Renown Choreographer and Master Teacher Ira Weisburd from 1 to 5 pm on October 7 at Congregation B'nai Israel. Plan to attend this rare opportunity, even if you do not know how to folk dance. Ira will be teaching a variety of fun dances to different kinds of music. As long as you have some kind of dance experience, you can learn the dances like everyone else. Broaden your experience. Contact me with questions. $25 per person at the door

UF Swing Club is at the Reitz Union tonight Friday October 28. Next Friday they are back at the Boltin Center with Lindy Games.

Tomorrow Saturday October 29 is a special event Variety Dance Performances and Participation for Unicef from 3 to 5 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4225 NW 34 Street. A variety of dancing you can watch and participate in, including Agbedidi dancers from UF. Great family entertainment. Bring friends. Fundraiser for UNICEF for refugee children. And the best chocolate chip cookies in town, lemonade and iced tea at the end.

Saturday night is the Gator Salsa Club Social at Salsa Mundial, 9 pm to 2 am, 3501 SW 2 Avenue. Bachata class at 9 pm. Free

Sunday is an Advanced Contra Dance at the Boltin Center at 4 pm, Waltzing at 2:15. $10

The UF Tango CLub is not meeting this Sunday.

After a long wait, next Saturday October 6 is Josh's West Coast Swing Retro Night Social Dance at 7:30 at Rena's Ballroom. $15 per person

Also next Saturday October 6 is Argentine Tango Milonga El Abrazo with Steve at 8 pm at Rosa B Williams. $10 per person

And next Saturday is Baila Caliente's Monthly Bachata Social at 9:30 pm at Studio C, 1925 NW 2 Street

The week after that is UF Tango Club's Argentine Tango Weekend with Yari Helfeld

Saturday from 9:30 pm to 2 am is Baila Caliente Red, Black and White 3 Year Anniversary Dance Social at Studio C.

Dancing with Andy

You can still join our beginner series on Thursdays. This is a group of both beginning and experienced dancers. There are 3 weeks left in the beginner series. Come join us whatever your level. No partner needed. At Congregation B'nai Israel.

At 7 pm we are doing Lindy Swing to slower music.

At 8 pm we are doing Waltz. The first week we did slow, ballroom style waltz, last week we did country style and this week we did cross step waltz. We will continue with waltz for the remaining three weeks to give you a chance to get more comfortable.

At 9 pm we are doing Argentine Tango.

Our next Monday night dancing is October 8, 15 and 22. We are doing Country Two Step with Andy at 5:30 pm and Hustle at 6:30 pm. $10 per person per night. At Congregation B'nai Israel.

This is a progressive series designed for new dancers to learn the basics of these dances. If you are an experienced dancer, you are encouraged to attend as well. We have a group of experienced dancers who practice during this time.
